Philips SA3300 bumped to 8GB

Philips SA3300 bumped to 8GB

Philips has just expanded the SA3300 GoGear flash-based portable media player that looks very much like the SA6000 series, throwing in an 8GB model into the fray. The QVGA LCD display has been increased to 2.4" despite retaining the 320 x 240 resolution and 65k colors.

File format support includes MPEG 4, WMV, MP3, and WMA. Despite a larger screen size that theoretically ought to suck up more juice, the SA3300 retails its 20 hour and 4 hour battery life for audio and video playback respectively. Seriously, I wonder why Apple can’t just release a video-capable iPod nano until today, as that would definitely take the edge off all the other similarly sized (memory and physical-wise) portable media players in the industry.
